FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

MicroPay is a Financial Technology (FINTECH) company licensed and regulated by the Bank of Uganda as a Payment Service Provider (PSP) and Payment Service Operator (PSO). MicroPay provides an electronic payments platform designed to enable multiple secure e-payment methods.

  • Bank deposits and withdrawals for supported banks.
  • Peer-to-peer (P2P) money transfer.
  • Bill payments, including utilities and Pay TV.
  • School fees and tuition payments.
  • Entertainment and event ticket payments.
  • Airtime, voice, and data purchases for telecoms.
  • Bulk payments.

  1. Download the MicroPay app from the Google Play Store.
  2. Visit any of our agents.
  3. Provide valid identification.
  4. Fill in our registration form.
  5. Accept the terms and conditions.
  6. Activate your account and deposit money.
  7. Start transacting.

  • A sole proprietorship.
  • A partnership.
  • A company.
  • A microfinance institution.
  • Any other entity approved by the central bank.

  • Tax Identification Number (TIN) for the individual.
  • National Identification Number or a copy of the original National ID.
  • Current photo of the business location.
  • Local Council letter from the business location.
  • Trading license or proof of an existing business.
  • Two current passport photos.
  • A valid contact number registered in the agent's name.
  • A Bluetooth printer for receipts.
  • An Android smartphone or POS machine with 4G connectivity.

  • Tax Identification Number (TIN) for the individual.
  • National Identification Number or a copy of the original National ID.
  • Current photo of the business location.
  • Local Council letter from the business location.
  • Trading license or proof of an existing business.
  • Two current passport photos.
  • A valid contact number registered in the agent's name.
  • A Bluetooth printer for receipts.
  • An Android smartphone or POS machine with 4G connectivity.

MicroPay was founded in 2012 and has been operating in the market since then.

  • Company Tax Identification Number (TIN).
  • Copies of National IDs for any two company directors.
  • Company Form 1, Form 18 and Form 20, or Form 7, as certified copies.
  • Certified copies of the Memorandum and Articles of Association.
  • Certified copy of the Certificate of Incorporation.
  • Passport photos for each director.
  • Valid contact numbers for directors.
  • A Bluetooth printer and an Android smartphone or POS machine with 4G connectivity.

  • Transactions are protected with end-to-end encryption.
  • MicroPay is licensed and regulated by the Bank of Uganda.
  • Customer funds are held with Centenary Bank.

  • The MicroPay agent shares the Cente outlet code with the customer.
  • The customer initiates a withdrawal from the Cente app using the shared outlet code.
  • The customer shares the secret code with the MicroPay agent.
  • The MicroPay agent completes the transaction.

  • Send money to one of the approved MicroPay super agents.
  • Share proof of payment through the official agent support channel.
  • Share your outlet code and your float will be credited.
  • You may also deposit to the MicroPay Centenary Bank account.

Go to the Send Money option in the menu and follow these steps:

  • Enter the recipient's phone number.
  • Enter the transfer amount and reason.
  • Review the confirmation screen.
  • Enter your PIN and proceed.
  • You will receive a confirmation SMS.
  • The recipient will also receive an SMS.
  • For a non-registered customer, a secret code is issued for withdrawal through an agent.
